Kachina MOD

Kachina MOD
Kachinas are spirit beings in the religious beliefs of the Pueblo peoples, Native American cultures located in the southwestern part of the United States.
They are personifications of things in the real world. These spirits are believed to visit the Hopi villages during the first half of the year. The local pantheon of Kachinas varies from pueblo community to community. A kachina can represent anything in the natural world or cosmos, from a revered ancestor to an element, a location, a quality, a natural phenomenon, or a concept; there may be Kachinas for the sun, stars, thunderstorms, wind, corn, insects, as well as many other concepts.
My original image (above) was inspired by a Hopi artisan’s silver pendant of one variation of the Sun Kachina and was created sometime around 2007 or 2008. I’m not certain because I was severely depressed, and all those desperate years flow together as a time I don’t want to remember. But my depression and my art have been inextricably linked since I was first diagnosed at age 17.

Some of my story is sad, but most is not.
Through it all, I’ve enjoyed being my own boss as a professional artist for almost 50 years.
Private jets to Aspen.
A glass-and-steel home in the Sonoran desert.
Cowboy webmaster with his own T1.
Early “retirement” to a Caribbean island.
Sales to the rich and famous.
Millionaire status.
Riches to rags in 2.5 seconds.
I tried to focus on the melody while ignoring the minor chords incessantly thrumming in my bass register.
When I let that melody go, well. . .

Perhaps you can imagine the one exception.
